RSA CHASE – KEY NOTE

Coney Island

4th December 2016 – Fairyhouse – There was absolutely no fluke about this victory as he was travelling all over his rivals from two out to the winning line. He moved well through the race and did not put a foot wrong at his fences. He is a best price 12/1 for the RSA Chase and would be shorter still if he was trained by someone else. The second favourite in the early markets is Thistlecrack who goes for the Gold Cup and the fourth favourite is today’s third horse home who finished nearly five lengths behind Coney Island. It is a little bit early for me to want to start backing each way for the festival; however, I will be keeping a close eye on his next run as, at this moment in time, he is the one to beat in the RSA Chase. He flopped on testing ground at Leopardstown’s 2016 Hennessy meeting so an average run in the Moriarty might result in him trading bigger than he does now.
