ELITE HURDLE GRADE 2 – REVIEW

Sceau Royal

7th November 2020 – Wincanton – As impressive as he appeared in the home straight he has not done anything that the official handicapper would not have expected. His time comparisons with Flic Ou Voyage from three out to the line adds some substance to the possibility that he is a little flattered by how this looked to the eye. On the plus side he is in very good form at the moment and it has been wonderful to see him return to the winner’s enclosure twice running after an eight race losing run stacked up whilst competing in stronger races than this one. (He was beaten four times by Altior in that sequence). The proximity of the second and third horses would imply he is not too far behind Silver Streak, if at all, in these conditions. This represents a level that would be more than good enough to see him finish in the prize money on good ground in a Champion Hurdle.

Teqany

7th November 2020 – Wincanton – He has probably run to a similar level as last time when he finished behind Silver Streak. He is a little flattered by his winning margin over the third horse here as that one paid for trying to take on the comfortable winner.

Diego Du Charmil

7th November 2020 – Wincanton – He is at his best in these conditions and can be marked up as the second best horse in the race as he paid a price for trying to stay with the comfortable winner. He has repeated his form with Teqany from Kempton here which adds something to the reliability of both pieces of form.

Solo

7th November 2020 – Wincanton – He found very little when push came to shove in the home straight. At the moment his reputation and his rating stands on the flimsy evidence of one impressive looking win beating very little. He may well turn out to be a lot better than he appeared here; nonetheless, he still has it to prove.

Master Debonair

7th November 2020 – Wincanton – The Tizzard horses have yet to really get going so it was no surprise when he failed to play a part in the finish. He did drop away a long way from home, however, and the good ground was offered as an excuse for this tame finish. The likelihood of this notion is supported by his winning form in testing conditions.
