SCOTTISH CHAMPION HURDLE GRADE 2 – REVIEW

Verdana Blue

13th April 2019 – Ayr – The very fast conditions played a significant role in the outcome of this contest. She is a high class mare on her day and had the race run to suit. The front runners probably went too fast and the first three places were taken by holdup horses. The horses finishing second and third add substance to the possibility that this is not strong form the way the race unfolded. At the same time the winner will prove hard to beat whenever she competes off a fast pace on quick ground on a flat track.

Nube Negra

13th April 2019 – Ayr – I strongly suspect he stayed too close to an overly aggressive pace and tired late on as a result. I feel confident he is very well handicapped and, at the same time, he has been mucked about with for a while and sometimes this can have an adverse effect on a horse’s reliability. I would want to remember this last point when assessing his true place in the market on another day. Perhaps we will see him next in the Swinton Hurdle.

Malaya

13th April 2019 – Ayr – She has enjoyed soft conditions before now and I would forgive any horse with a similar profile that competed on this extra quick going.
